Graphite

The tiles are cut as wedges rather than rectangles — narrower at the inside than at the outside — which is what lets them sit flush against one another around the curve of the wrist. Each is polished, and because they are faceted with a slight crown they take light at different angles, so the band shifts between charcoal and near-black as the hand moves.

It is a dark bracelet without being a black one: the grey is the grey of pencil lead, with a metallic sheen, and against the silver-tone clasp it reads as one material in two finishes. Slim enough to wear beside a watch and heavy enough to feel like something.
