Ember is a gold-tone band set with two rows of square-cut stones in smoky brown, laid like brickwork above a single row of small clear pavé that runs beneath them. The brown is warm rather than dark, close to the gold it sits in. Best worn for evenings, and easily enough for daytime.

Put it on last
After perfume, lotion and hairspray have dried. Alcohol and oils are what dull a plated finish faster than anything else.

Take it off first
Before you sleep, shower, swim or exercise. Chlorine, salt water and sweat are all harder on a finish than ordinary daily wear.

Wipe it down after wearing
A dry, soft cloth removes the skin oils that cause tarnish. No chemical cleaners and no ultrasonic baths on plated or stone-set pieces.

In the pouch or box it arrived in, away from damp. Loose in a drawer, pieces scratch each other.

The story
About Ember
Brown stones are unusual and they are the whole reason for this ring. Because they sit so close to yellow gold in colour, the two rows read as texture rather than as decoration — the band looks built rather than set, which is what the brickwork arrangement is there to reinforce.
The row of clear pavé underneath is what saves it from being monochrome. It draws a bright line along the base of the band, so from the side there is a clear order to the ring: light at the bottom, warm above. Worn stacked with a plain gold band it looks better still.
