Put it on last
After perfume, lotion and hairspray have dried. Alcohol and oils are what dull a plated finish faster than anything else.

Take it off first
Before you sleep, shower, swim or exercise. Chlorine, salt water and sweat are all harder on a finish than ordinary daily wear.

Wipe it down after wearing
A dry, soft cloth removes the skin oils that cause tarnish. No chemical cleaners and no ultrasonic baths on plated or stone-set pieces.

The story
About Eclipse
One line of stones on a dark ground, and everything depends on where the line sits. Set on the crown it would look like a crack; set here, slightly below it, the stones catch light from the side while the top of the dome stays black — so the ring reads as a bright ring around a dark body rather than as a band split in two.
The gloss is the other half of it. A matt black band with stones would be flat and rather grim; polished, it picks up the colour of a sleeve or a table and changes through the day. It is the most understated ring here and, worn as a wedding band, the least likely to date.
